Character concepts

All characters are students at Starfleet Academy in their final year.

The headquarters of Starfleet Academy is located in San Francisco, while the Academy training facility itself is located in Marin County across the Golden Gate Bridge, just south of Sausalito, California.

The training typically lasts four years, although more specialised programs such as a doctorate can last up to 6 or 8 years. Student scan enroll from the age of 18 or a similar age among other species.
Entry in to the academy is allowed after an entrance exam. Non-federation citizens require a sponsor or need to follow a six week preparation program during the summer.

After the entrance exam the student also needs to pass a psychological test to see if he or she is fit for duty.
